Damon Young received his elementary and secondary education in the New York City public school system. After graduating with a Regents diploma from Springfield Gardens High School, he attended St. John’s University. There he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. Currently, Damon is pursuing his M.B.A. at New York University.
He began his professional career at the Big 5 Accounting firm, Deloitte & Touche LLP. During his tenure, he successfully passed the Certified Public Accountancy exam to earn his C.P.A. license.
Shortly after earning his C.P.A. license, Damon was employed as an Internal Auditor by Bristol-Myers Squibb Company. During his 2.5 years in this department, he performed operational and financial audits in over 20 countries throughout the world.
Presently, he works as Accounting Manager for the Secure the Future project, one of Bristol-Myers Squibb’s corporate initiatives. Secure the Future is Bristol-Myers Squibb’s commitment of $100 million to help women and children infected and affected by HIV/AIDS in Southern Africa.
In his spare time, he serves as a mentor for high school students through the Queens College Upward Bound program. The program is geared towards motivating and encouraging inner-city New York City students to complete high school and pursue a college degree through exposure to a campus environment.
