Michael Molo and Gabisile Stemela Graduate from the University of Johannesburg
IYL would like to congratulate 2006 Scholars Michael Molo and G
abisile Stemela on their
November 2008 graduation from the University of Johannesburg. Both graduated with honors in accounting. IYL believes this to be our greatest metric of our success: when we see that the work we do has helped scholars to move into new and exciting territory. So, we are always excited to congratulate our former scholars on all they achieve. We know that as former IYL Scholars, Michael and Gabisile have the leadership skills and drive to impact their country in big ways. IYL wishes them the best of luck and cannot wait to hear of their future successes.

Mokete Mokone: 2004 Scholar, 2008 Ford Fellow
“Having been named one of twenty four Ford Motor Company Global Scholars for 2008 I was honored to return to the United States for yet another exciting program through the Washington Center. The program aims to build capacity among young people as future leaders in achieving the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. Even though the dimension on the program is different, I have been exposed to the issues we focus on as an IYL Scholar. I understand world issues, which has helped me excel because of my prior exposure. Because IYL was internationally aimed it set the tone for global engagement and thus prepared me for the Ford program. My advice to my peers: South Africa is in a process of becoming and all that it should be is still taking place. This process works far better with people in it and especially young people who are willing to make their national dreams, their personal dreams, then only then can change happen.”
